Lawsonia finished

This shawl is so special…for so many reasons.

It is the first shawl in a while that I’ve finished for me…so that’s the first special thing.  Most importantly, however, is the cause that this shawl represents.

This shawl, Lawsonia, is a pattern by Corrina Ferguson of PicnicKnits.  She is an AMAZING lace and shawl designer…and her creativity in this arena truly knows no bounds.  I swear she publishes a pattern every few days!

The yarn that I used is the Unwind Yarn Company‘s Journey Sock in the Limited Edition TEALtember colorway.  It was a colorway that was dyed up to bring awareness to Ovarian Cancer.  For those who may not know, my maternal grandmother and maternal aunt both had ovarian cancer.  My grandmother battled it decades ago and survived it (she has since passed); my aunt battled almost 20 years ago now and unfortunately did not win her battle.  When I heard about this “movement” in September…I knew immediately I had to be a part of it.

If you would like to join me in knitting a TEAL colored project to bring awareness to Ovarian Cancer, I’d love to have you!  I’m hosting (along with other podcasters) a knit-along (KAL) on Ravelry on the Suburban Stitcher Podcast forum.  Here’s the requirements:

  • project must be at least 50% TEAL
  • project must have at least 250 yds
  • project must be knit between Sept. 1 and Oct. 15.

That’s it.  Easy Peasy.  And you’ll win something if your name is drawn as the winner.
