Sub-Par Cowl (aka the Crofters Cowl)

I work in a high school as an Assistant Registrar…aka…the assistant to the Registrar.  I love what I do.  One thing I don’t love, however, is the official title for my job.  In our school district, all secretaries are called “Paraprofessionals” which I always think sounds like “sub-professionals”.  Almost like we’re not quite good enough to be professional.  Sub-Par.

Anyway.

All of the secretaries at my school get together every Christmas and have a gift exchange, and I knew this cowl would be the perfect thing to make.  Our school colors are columbia blue & navy, so this was the perfect yarn…and it was in my stash, which makes it even better!

Sub-Par Cowl

This pattern calls for you to knit both sides separately and then graft them in the middle with the Kitchener stitch.  I. WILL. get better at that stitch if it kills me!  I think that the key is to knit MAJORLY LOOSE so that when they’re together you can sort of wiggle everything to look like it was all one piece.  If anyone out there has any hints for me, I’d surely appreciate them!

The pattern was very easy to memorize, and it was such an easy knit.  The yarn is nice (malabrigo silky merino), and it will be very interesting to see how it wears in the long run.

You can see all of the other details over {here} on my Ravelry page.
